Yanni’s is kitschy—the floors are carpeted, the walls are painted to look like the sea, and they’re not shy on the ancient acropolis replicas. We wouldn’t have it any other way when it comes to this very special Greek restaurant, whose turnaround was once an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The friendly neighborhood vibes are as warm as the avgolemono. The homemade gyro meat (no Kronos here) is the city’s best by a landslide. And we could plow through the tomato-y braised gigante beans for days. In a city that isn’t blessed with many sit-down Greek spots, Yanni’s is a diamond in the rough.
