Whether you were a regular at the original Wayfare Tavern or have no idea who Tyler Florence is, all you need to know is this iteration of Wayfare Tavern is still one of the best restaurants in the Financial District. At the new location, the American spot has kept its slightly retro, upscale look with wood beams the color of barely cooked caramel, maroon booths, and full-wall nautical murals. There are also a few literal holdovers from its former space, like the taxidermy deer heads. The menu sticks to the dishes that were essential to the Wayfare experience. Deviled eggs, fried chicken, the Tavern Burger, and, of course, the free popovers to start the meal are still here and solid. They all make for a reliable, low-stress group dinner or a casual power lunch, especially because Wayfare's tables don’t require much advanced planning and the restaurant is open all day on weekends (a rarity in the neighborhood).
