Housed in an inconspicuous Silver Spring strip mall near a Starbucks and thrift store, Jewel of India is worth the outside-the-District detour. We start every meal with the mouth-watering mulligatawny soup and crisped-to-perfection garlic naan. Once you get to the entrées, the tandoori options are strong contenders. We favor the lamb chops, drenched in freshly ground spices that make your nostrils dance with glee. And the dal makhani here is one of our favorites anywhere in the DMV because the lentil-to-bean ratio has been brilliantly fine-tuned.
