If you love a raw bar and plan your week around happy hour, Henrietta Red should be your new best friend. This seafood spot in Germantown has cheery Hamptons-esque decor and runs like a well-oiled machine. When they opened in 2017, they were a one-of-a-kind restaurant in the neighborhood that set the bar really high. Years later, it continues to rise to meet the occasion and then some. Platters of oysters are present on almost every table and for good reason. The raw bar consistently stocks a dozen different varieties, as well as a toss in or two like a cobia crudo with almonds, serrano, and mint. To go with it, they have an especially crisp glass of cava and a mean vesper, $7 and $10 respectively from 5-6pm. That’s a steal. There are also elegant plates of whole trout and perfect risotto made with seasonal stuff like black walnuts and mushrooms or pea shoots and miso. Splitting a bottle from their wine list and ending with a chocolate pavlova makes for an excellent first date option, and the moodier bar space is waiting for you, if you’re not quite ready for the night to end yet.
