Slim & Husky’s has turned their Nashville pizza joint into a veritable empire that spans a large chunk of the southeastern USA. When that kind of thing happens, it’s sometimes hard to maintain the magic that jump-started them in the first place. But we’re happy to confirm that the original brick and mortar in North Nashville still brims with community love, kind service, and good food. The pizzas here are served flatbread-style, and the menu balances please-everybody combinations with inventive creations. Our favorite pie is the Nashville hot chicken pizza topped with two types of poultry (spicy smoked chicken and sausage), banana peppers, big chunks of jalepeño, dill parmesan seasoning, and the thing that brings it all together: the lightest drizzle of hot honey. Slim & Husky’s also makes some good wings—the Triple Sauce Mafia flavor is an enticing combo of buffalo, lemon pepper, and honey gold sauces that hits all the right notes.
