Everyone needs a Breezy’s in their neighborhood. The cheery Washington Avenue deli and market on the border of Point Breeze and Graduate Hospital comes from the same team as neighboring Porco’s and Small Oven Pastry Shop. It’s basically a corner store run by a chef, so they sell produce, meat, and snacky sweets from local purveyors like Metropolitan Bakery and Milk Jawn. But if you see a line of parents and their scooter-riding offspring, it’s for the smoothies and made-to-order hoagies. They all come with hoagie juice–their signature vinaigrette—but the standout is the super savory Roast Beef Jawn packed with herbed prime rib beef, banana pepper relish, marinated onions, mustard-horseradish mayo, and horseradish cheese. The Italiano is also good, since it’s stacked with Porco’s porchetta. And make sure to grab a salted chocolate chip cookie from Small Oven on your way out.
