Nashville sure has an ever-growing list of out-of-town imports, but when Iberian Pig came up from Atlanta, we were pretty thrilled about it. What’s to complain about when around a third of the menu is taken up by Spanish cheese and ham flown in from the Iberian peninsula? Thankfully, not a ton (and certainly not when it comes to pork or dairy). Come here for the jamón happy hour that includes generously-sized goblets of sangria and $6 bowls of marinated olives, and stay for dinner. The space is so dark you’ll probably have to squint and tilt your menu toward a candle to read, but know to prioritize the small plates. They can be hit or miss, but they’re mostly hits. Here, the most delicious things come out of the most humble—gorgeous roasted carrots with a hazelnut chili crisp, simple pan con tomate (we always add boquerones), and the Iberico, of course. The Iberian Pig does a few large-format items. If you’re making reservations for a group ahead of time (and you should), put in an order for the suckling pig for 6—it requires a 72-hour notice to prepare. You can skip the paella though. It’s underwhelming, and after all the fabulous wine and vermouth over ice, quite the buzzkill.
