If you’re planning a few winery visits in North Georgia, Wolf Mountain should be on it. It has screensaver-worthy views, great wine blends, and a large on-site restaurant that makes a welcoming harbor at the end of your day trip. The vineyards look like they were air-dropped into Dahlonega straight from some European wine country. The tasting room and multi-level patios sit high on a hill surrounded by rows and rows of grapevines, mountains, and landscaping details that a Victorian era groundskeeper would be proud of. Grab a seat on the patio to take it all in. Just know, there’s a 90% chance someone will break your trance to ask you to take a photo of them against the backdrop. On weekends, Wolf Mountain usually fills every available seat with bachelorette parties clutching Kate Spade bags and couples on romantic day dates sipping on glasses of Howling Wolf Red (a jam-sweet blend of syrah and cabernet sauvignon). The best bang for your buck is to do a tasting. Their reserve red flight allows you to try all their 100% estate-made wines, including the private reserve tannat , which tastes like a smoky plum in the best way. Unlike smaller wineries in North Georgia, Wolf Mountain has its own cafe. But you’ll need a reservation, especially on weekends, because nearly everyone up here is using this place as a refuel spot during their winery hopping day. If you can’t get a table, they offer decent light bites on their patio menu, where we like the creamy smoked salmon dip and the thin crust, white-sauce pizza drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Both work well with your glass of crisp Plenitude (a blend of Chardonnay and Viognier) and the live acoustic versions of things that would be on a Now That's What I Call Music compilation.
