Capitol Federal's East Olathe Branch celebrated its grand opening during the week of January 18, 1988, marking the second branch in Olathe and the eighth in Johnson County. Dave Viebrock served as the first branch manager, while Bob Johansen, the assistant branch manager, made sure to keep the coffee ready for the local police officer who would stop by early in the mornings whenever the new alarm system accidentally went off. The branch quickly became an integral part of the Olathe community.
