At Caffe Paradiso, the people behind Dante have swapped perfect Negronis in Greenwich Village for perfect espresso in Nolita. Their signature drinks have some bells and whistles—a foam-top here, some shaved chocolate there—that tend to attract people who like taking pictures of their coffee and are willing to stand in line to do so. But except for a matcha with a little too much strawberry syrup on the bottom, the signature drinks here are never too sweet or over-the-top. Try the Paradiso Cream Top—an iced americano with thick cream that sinks into the coffee as you sip it, or the iced White Chocolate Shakerato, with whipped espresso and shaved white chocolate. There are a few bar seats where you can perch with an afternoon coffee, but if you’ve got a little time, take your drink across the street to Elizabeth Street Garden.
