About
Count of Oeiras (in Portuguese Conde de Oeiras) was a Portuguese title of nobility created by a royal decree, dated from July 15, 1759, by King Joseph I of Portugal, and granted to Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Head of the Portuguese Government. Later, through another royal decree dated from September 16, 1769, the same king upgraded the title to Marquess of Pombal.

This was an overnight stay before a cruise so we weren't looking for anything expensive and the Marques Do Pombal was reasonably priced. We were greeted by a very nice doorman who brought our luggage.
This is a park/square near the train station. There is a very large monument in the center of the square of a man with a lion. The man is the person who helped rebuilt Lisbon after the devastating ea.
Praça Marquês de Pombal is one of Lisbon’s most significant and unmistakable city landmarks — less a quiet “square” and more a major urban roundabout at the northern end of Avenida da Liberdade, right
