The Star Provisions restaurant group has an impressive roster, including Bacchanalia and W.H. Stiles Fish Camp. So it’s no surprise that their namesake bakery is a quadruple threat as a top-tier bakeshop, market, cafe, and Upper Westside hangout. Instead of the usual laptop-filled scene (there's no wifi), the busy cafe gets swarmed with families and small groups, who linger long after their giant shrimp po’boys and crispy chicken biscuits are demolished. Any menu item that utilizes their bread is a good choice (seriously, even the fluffer nutter on thick spongy toast may have you back at the order counter for seconds). And things like giant cakey black and white cookies and flaky ham- and cheese-stuffed croissants are good grab-and-go snacks if you're just here to scoop a few provisions for your upcoming dinner party.
