The magic of a.kitchen—much like that of it's older sister, Fork—is that while it's most definitely an upscale experience with top-tier service, it's never stiff. Most people come to the Rittenhouse mainstay for a special date night or small group dinner and share things like the perfectly-charred octopus lyonnaise, grilled branzino, or chicken liver toast (the best in town). The attentive servers and somms are always more than happy to take you through the extensive—and not egregiously expensive!—wine and cocktail list, even if you're just popping in for a beverage and a dozen oysters. But the fine-dining bistro does everything well, so it’s no surprise that they also have a great weekend brunch, complete with a fluffy egg sandwich and cornmeal pancakes. No matter when you come, you're going to want the burger—the double patty is topped with deliciously salty cornichons to give it some texture, and the toasty bun keeps all the meat, american cheese, and tangy dijonnaise intact. Split it, along with the little gem salad, and you'll still have room for a dirty chai pot de creme to end your brunch, lunch, or dinner.
