CLOSED SUNDAYS FROM MEMORIAL DAY TO LABOR DAY. The Rockwell Branch of the Wichita Public Library first opened on March 29, 1976. It was originally planned to be called the Edgemoor Park Branch, but about a week before it opened, the Library Board of Directors voted to name the branch in honor of retiring library director Ford Rockwell (1907-1997). After an expansion and remodeling project, Rockwell reopened in 2025 with an enlarged meeting room, new study rooms, a drive-up window, and more.
