At Electric Burrito, the fries come inside your tortilla, but at HighLife, their burger spot, they come loaded with queso and dill pickles. Located right around the corner from the Cali burrito spot’s original East Village location, HighLife is serving up a simple menu of thin-patty (not smashed) burgers, hot dogs, and fries. Unfortunately, the champagne of beers is not for sale here. Their burgers taste like a homemade version of a quarter pounder with cheese, or an In-N-Out Double-Double, and we mean that in an absolutely complimentary way. There’s no big secret to their secret sauce, no toppings that you’ve never seen before—this is just a great version of American fast food joints, made with high-quality ingredients by hand. The counter service spot has no seating, and is open until 1am (and 3am on the weekends), so keep it in mind for after you’ve had a few Miller High Lifes.
