About

The Soho House model — a members’ club oriented towards professionals in the arts and creative fields — was always destined to be a good fit for Amsterdam, not only because its intended audience is plentiful here, but also because its eclectic aesthetic is a perfect match for a city whose styles range from historic canal-house coziness to stark postmodern minimalism. Set in the monumental 1930s Bungehuis, a beautifully restored Art Deco edifice, Soho House Amsterdam is as fully realized as any of the other Soho House properties: a lively mix of classic architecture, modern design, and contemporary art, in this case by a panoply of Dutch artists. The rooms feel collected rather than designed, and while they shy away from typical luxury-hotel opulence — and this being Amsterdam, they start out a bit compact — they are nothing if not comfortable. Even more than most luxury boutique hotels, a club like Soho House relies on the quality of its (semi-) public spaces to attract members and guests. Here there’s a typically lavish athletic club and Cowshed spa, as well as events spaces and a 36-seat private cinema. Cecconi’s, the brand’s signature Italian kitchen, makes an appearance as well, and the Club menu is served all throughout the house at any time of day.
