You’ll probably see the line before you spot the cart. Every weekend morning on Center Boulevard, catch a small parade of Rollin’ Bagels regulars—and at least a few of their leashed dogs, sniffing at the bacon-scented air—cracking jokes with the owner. Fortunately, it’s never too long a wait for the best bagels in Long Island City. (Rollin’ Bagels also operates a truck, usually parked in Court Square during the week.) Those bagels are excellent: chewy yet airy, with a satisfyingly crisp crust. They’re ideally sized for sandwiches, too, and that’s the best way to order here. The eggs are always fluffy, and Rollin’ is one of too-few bagel spots with Spam as a protein option. Also of note: the house jalapeño cream cheese, made with chunky slices of pepper that give it an actually potent kick.
