Ackerman is a town and the county seat of Choctaw County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,594 according to 2020 census, which shows an increase from 1,510 reported in the 2010 census. It is named for William K. Ackerman, President of the Illinois Central Railroad 1877-1883.
