Düsseldorf Airport, known as Düsseldorf International Airport until March 2013, is an international airport serving Düsseldorf, the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is about 7 kilometres north of downtown Düsseldorf and some 20 kilometres southwest of Essen in the Rhine-Ruhr area, Germany's largest metropolitan area. Düsseldorf is the fourth-busiest airport in Germany and handled 16 million passengers in 2022.
