After successful launches in Jackson Hole and Mammoth Lakes, Outbound Hotels turned eastward to one of New England’s top mountain resorts. For all of Stowe’s considerable charm, it’s a destination somewhat short on modern boutique hotels, and the youthful, nature-oriented Outbound Stowe fills the gap nicely. On a wooded property a few miles outside of town, with direct access to Stowe’s popular Recreation Path, it’s a hybrid of glamping and hipster summer camp complete with communal fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs, a stylish all-day eatery, and one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the area. Standard rooms and two-level loft suites, all cozy and colorfully furnished, are housed in the main buildings, while Scandinavian-inspired A-frame cabins come with handy kitchenettes and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the forest. Offering extra space and privacy is a shabby-chic three-bedroom cottage with a full kitchen and fireplace. At the end of the day, though, Outbound Stowe is a social place, its beautifully illuminated pool and patio ideal for hanging out and sipping maple-infused craft cocktails under the stars after a day out skiing, hiking, or mountain biking.
