The Club at Carlton Woods' championship course from Tom Fazio opened in 2005, a few years after its Jack Nicklaus course opened. The Fazio course at Carlton Woods is routed over steep and dramatic elevation changes with fairways set among the dense native woodlands of the Spring Creek bluffs. Fazio's design is the harder of the two courses and features challenging green complexes guarded by an array of creeks, streams and ponds. Water comes into play on eight of 18 holes, with perhaps the most dramatic example guarding the front of the 445-yard par-4 18th. In 2016, the region was hit with intense flooding, which damaged many of the course's bunkers and led to their permanent removal as remediation for future damage.
