Opened on 10 November 1978, the 975-bed hospital forms part of the Western Sydney Local Health District, and is a teaching hospital of Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney. The hospital serves a population of 1.85 million people and is located on one of the largest health and hospital campuses in Australia.
