The chicken tikka masala is usually the first thing people mention when they talk about Aatish On The Hill. And while the neighborhood-famous chicken is good, it’s Aatish’s vegetarian dishes that put them in a league above other Indian-Pakistani spots in the city. The smoky baingan bharta is a love letter to eggplant, and the creamy curry in the matar paneer cuts the perfect tang of the cubed cheese. You can certainly have a lovely meal inside this petite restaurant, but you might find yourself alone in the brightly lit, white tablecloth space. Aatish does a brisk takeout business, with delivery cars sporting glowing branded roof toppers ferrying lamb vindaloo, goat karahi, and shrimp biryani around the Hill every night of the week. Aatish’s doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but they just might have perfected it.
