Kona is a Moku of Kauaʻi. Moku are traditional subdivisions of the Hawaiian Islands. Their use can be traced back hundreds of years through oral tradition and practice. Moku are further subdivided into Ahupua‘a. The current State of Hawai‘i uses this system for land management.
