Are you familiar with Tigawok? We could have probably just copied and pasted that same review here. Robowok is a clear Tigawok dupe near USC, likely the byproduct of someone who saw all the UCLA students there and thought, “What if we did that, but for Trojans?” The fast-casual spot on Vermont features the same teal branding, same robot-operated woks, and the same mini bowls of Chinese food like orange peel chicken and mapo tofu at around $3-$7 each. Some dishes at Robowok run a little spicier, and the turnover between fresh batches isn’t quite as quick at Tigawok, but overall the food here is satisfying, filling, and well-prepared for something cooked by what looks like a washing machine (the woks at Robowok are right up front, so the whole operation is mesmerizing to watch). With the same DNA as Tigawok, it’s no surprise that we’re fans of this spot, too. The only difference is which school sweatshirt everyone is wearing while they scarf down chow mein.
