Wayne is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A western suburb of Detroit, Wayne is located about 18 miles southwest of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 17,713. Wayne has a long history of automotive and transportation related manufacturing. Ford Motor Company currently has two plants in Wayne: Wayne Stamping& Assembly and the Michigan Assembly Plant, formerly known as the Michigan Truck Plant.
