The Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon Opera House, is an opera house in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is an example of French Colonial architecture in Vietnam. Built in 1897 by French architect Eugène Ferret as the Opėra de Saigon, the 800 seat building was used as the home of the Lower House assembly of South Vietnam after 1956. It was not until 1975 that it was again used as a theatre, and restored in 1995.

We went to the bamboo circus which was a fabulous experience. Slightly obscured seats in the VIP balcony area but we were advised accordingly so no issues. Holds about 1800 people. Superb history an..
Nice theatre, beautiful building, we saw the AO show which is like Cirque de Soleil for beginners, not the most exciting show but it passed an hour! Is it worth it? It’s a vast improvement on the wat.
The Saigon Opera House is centrally located close to the start of the hop on hop off red bus route. Tickets for the A O show for better stall seats were 1,250000 Dong and show starts promptly at 6pm.
