Box Butte County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,308. Its county seat is Alliance. The county was formed in 1886. Box Butte is the name of a geological formation in the county's eastern part. In the Nebraska license plate system, Box Butte County is represented by the prefix 65.
