A tiny coffee shop located at the ground floor of Zhengzhou Shenglong(which means "ascending dragon", coincidentally, it sounds similar with that unique skill acquired by Dragon Shiryu, Rozan Ascending dragon, which has been vividly depicted in Saint Shiya, one of the most influential comic series which has gained significant popularity in China during 1980s and 1990s.) Plaza(郑州升龙广场), very compact and cozy, two or three tall round stools with backrest have been sparsely placed in the shop, adjacenting to that long, narrow black table alongside the floor-to-ceiling windows framed with stainless steel material. Sometimes, I may encounter several office workers sitting there, sipping their coffee beverages after work. Cotti coffee is less-known to the market, when being compared with Luckin Coffee, another popular domestic chain coffee brand in China. Honestly, if we treated Luckin Coffee as China version of Starbucks, I think they could be considered as China version of Costa coffee, even background colors of their brand logos look alike. They provide seasonal limted-edition specialty blended coffee beverages as well, like pumpkin-flavored beverages for Halloween.
By the way, I find their business mode quite resembles to Luckin Coffee, which makes me wonder how could they be easily distinguished and chosen by consumers? Besides, I don't know whether it'll still be sustainable for profit growth and expansion momentum in the future when they still rely heavily on coupons or price advantage. Although I still think it's a reputable coffee brand, but market share depends on customers' recognitions and choices, they may abandon a brand undoubtedly when those coupons are not available anymore, or when other newly-emerged competitors can provide more cost-effective discounts. I guess, differentiation development and reshape the brand to make it more distinguishable from others, and lay emphasis on the cultivation of unique specialty products will be crucial targets in following developing phase.
Okay, it's only my irresponsible conjectures as a ordinary customer, hope it won't offend anyone's feelings. I still think Cotti coffee is a reliable brand worthy to be chosen when being in consideration of purchasing a cup of beverage from a street-side chain shop, to replenish your caffeine intake and appreciate seasonal specialty blended flavor of that drink.
Besides, the baristas are professional and thoughtful. And it's cost-effective as always, thanks to the coupons!
