The predecessor of Anshu on Lantau Island was a patriotic overseas Chinese businessman from Myanmar at the beginning of the last century. Mr. Zeng Shangyuans private residence was where he went to Singapore to make a living in 1909. Later, he set up a rice factory in Myanmar and became a giant overseas Chinese businessman. In 1919, he returned home with a huge sum of money to settle at 38 Anshu Road on Gulangyu Island and built several Western style villas. The facade of the building was like a diamond cut, hence the name Diamond Tower.Entering the hotel, visitors escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, effortlessly releasing their sense of busyness from the past.
