沙田万佛寺坐落于半山，依山而建，景致清幽。寺如其名，供奉逾万尊形态各异的金佛，庄严而奇特。园内还有五百罗汉像及巨型观音像，沿径错落，引人驻足。最令人印象深刻的，莫过于十三米高的户外大佛，金身庄严，俯瞰城门河。需攀登四百多级阶梯方可抵达，虽稍耗体力，但沿途树荫相伴，颇有禅意。整体而言，这里结合宗教艺术与自然景观，虽规模不算宏伟，却独具宁静质朴的气息，值得专程探访。

The main temple is a nice design but this is NOT a monastery as there are no monks on premise. I have some heavy opinions about having so many ashes of hundreds of devout Buddhists interned here only to have no monks praying for them and just a radio replaying mantras in the rooms they rest. This is not true blessings they are receiving. As for the design of the ten thousand Buddhas they are of no particular style, and are best described as cartooncomic style. For these reasons, I consider this more of a tourist site than a religious one. There are real monasteries in Hong Kong you can go to - go to those instead. Even nearby you can go to the Western Monastery which is a genuine Buddhist Monastery.P.S. On my visit I saw no indication that monkeys exist in or near here. maybe they have been relocated
