I am an American Expat in China. I teach in Baotou and recently went to visit Hohhot. I visited the Central Plaza to go to CarreFour. Carrefour is a french grocery store brand. I had heard they had a wider selection of foreign imports than other chains. I was happy to find out this was true. They had 3 isles of foreign imports with cereals, canned goods, baking supplies, Japanese, Indian, and Korean food. They also have a better environment than most stores in China. The atmosphere has less sales pressure from associates. The products are clean and well displayed on the shelves. The store is organized in an orderly and logical fashion. Overall, I was happy with this find and took back many foreign food treasures to Baotou.
