Portland's beloved farmers markets swell with locals and tourists alike all seasons of the year. Offering locally grown seasonal fruits and veggies, there's no better place to stock for the week.
LessLocated at the Portland State University (PSU) campus in the South Park Blocks, the PSU Farmers Market has been providing locals with fresh fruits and veggies since 1996. Started in 1997 by a group of neighbors in the Hollywood neighborhood, the Hollywood Farmer’s Market success speaks for itself. The market expanded to a year-round season in 2011 and doesn’t show signs of slowing anytime soon. Swing by Saturday morning (the market is open rain or shine) and see what all the fuss is about. This Portland farmers market hosts up to 60 vendors selling a plethora of local goodies with friendly smiles.
Founded in 2012, Kenton Farmers Market is located in North Portland’s charming Kenton neighborhood. Attracting both neighborhood residents and those willing to schlep over, the live music and booming vendor stalls are the draw. Unlike most of the other Farmers markets in Portland, this one operates in the evenings. If your schedule it flexible, this is a great spot to swing by mid-week if you have some seasonal meals planned for the weekend.
It'd be a stretch to call downtown Vancouver a hidden gem. The secret has been out for a while (largely thanks to the new waterfront) and folks love visiting the area. One of the biggest draws is the charming Saturday Farmers Market, which features tons of vendors selling everything from fresh-baked bread to pet treats and home accessories. Listen to live music, stroll past vendors or catch up with friends, you're bound to find something new to enjoy.
The Portland farmers market at Shemanski Park is one of my personal favorites. I used to work two blocks from the park and would swing by every Wednesday to see what the vendors have in store. This well-shaded park is tiny, but that doesn’t stop the vendors from cramming into every free corner possible. Founded in 1998, this market now features around 30 vendors that sell everything from farm-fresh produce to delicious fare served under the canopy of healthy trees.
The Hillsdale Farmers Market (in the neighborhood of Hillsdale) hosts more than 50 local vendors from both Oregon and Southwest Washington. You’ll find a great selection of the usual suspects: seasonal fruits and veggies alongside happy vendors selling delicious cheeses, baked goods and quality honey.
Started in 1991, this beloved farmers market is no stranger to humble beginnings. What started with 7 vendors has now spread to over 70+ who are all eager to share their bounties and crafts. You'll find everything from fun souvenirs, fresh produce, beautiful floral displays and hot food. Expect crowds regardless of the season you visit, this is one of the most popular farmers markets near Portland.
Opened in 1982, the Hillsboro Farmers Market is one of the oldest farmers markets in the state. Located in downtown Hillsboro, this gem is full of quality vendors and artisans selling everything you didn't know you needed. The food trucks are a nice touch and ensure you won't leave hungry, and there's tables with ample seating so you don't feel rushed.
