“Waking up every day to see the sun is a great feeling,” Inglewood-born singer Cuco says of living in Los Angeles. “The weather gives you more motivation to explore. There are so many communities and spots to see.” Here are his favorite spots in LA."
Less"What do I love about Martha’s? This is a dope, super-local, and convenient spot that’s close to the beach and has excellent food. I especially recommend their breakfast menu. The breakfast burrito is a must-have, particularly when sitting outside and enjoying it by the water. I highly recommend it."
"I have a lot of memories about this spot. It used to be an AMF where my dad would take me as a kid. Now, it’s my go-to bowling spot. My family and I got together here to bowl, and we used to learn how to play properly. What also makes it fun is that the airport is nearby, so you can watch airplanes come and go. For food, I recommend the chicken wings and the platters they have with all kinds of snacks. Hit the arcade as well!"
"La Cienega Boulevard is very L.A.; it’s like a crossroads for many people in the city. Birrieria is a food truck close to the airport on La Cienega, and it’s close to where I grew up hanging out. They are known for their full-on birria, which I highly recommend. The vibe is a bit industrial in this area, but their outdoor seating is rad and you can see the airplanes land at LAX. It reminds me of plane spotting as a kid."
"This is a hiking trail I’d go to as a high schooler to walk and get lost with my friends. It’s a great spot right at the beach. It’s an easy trail to walk, not too difficult at all. And you can easily get off the trail to end up on the beach. Good for a coffee walk or an after-food walk. It’s good to bring anyone."
"Astro Burgers and skating go hand in hand for me. It’s a great burger spot with a mom-and-pop vibe that’s close to where I live and the skate park where I’ve been going ever since high school, when we threw parties here. Go skate and then hit up Astro Burgers with friends for a hang after the skate park. Get the double bacon burger and some fries. This place is like home to me honestly."
"If you can’t tell by now, I’m a bit of a plane spotter, and this is another great spot with awesome views to watch planes. I love taking photos of airplanes here. But there’s a lot more to do in this park. You can play chess, skate, or just relax and reset for the day. Grab your favorite to-go food and come here at night to try to find the biggest plane."
"I love nature and walking around in a calm environment close to the city. Descanso Gardens is one of those unique places in L.A. where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and relax. The gardens are beautiful year-round, and it’s great to walk with friends, enjoy a book, and take in nature. I love to grab a coffee and enjoy the Japanese garden here."
"This is the home of the L.A. Galaxy, my favorite soccer team. I have so many memories watching games here, but taking my dad to see the Galaxy win the MLS Cup in 2024 is definitely a moment I will always remember. I had been a Galaxy fan as a kid, but the first time I went to a game was when Zlatan Ibrahimović was there. The energy around him was insane. It was sick. This spot makes me feel super alive and happy to be in the South Bay."
"The Pier resets me on rough days. I love to come here to enjoy the views. It’s a great place to skate or bike from other beaches. I enjoy getting some oysters, clam chowder, and churros to have a great hang."
"This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. A true childhood hub where you come to hang out and grub. My favorite menu item? The lomo saltado, always! I’ve been coming here ever since I was little with Dad and Godfather to watch the 2014 World Cup. You don’t need a specific reason to go—it’s always a good time to go!"
