In Paris for 24 hours? Explore the best of the city.
Less7AM : Wake up in L’Appartement in the Tour d’Argent, where you have spent a fabulous night sleeping right next door to the restaurant’s kitchens, with a breath-taking view of Notre-Dame. A lavish breakfast is included.
9AM : Have a speciality coffee or a vitamin-packed juice at Chanceux, owned by Thomas Lehoux and Farah Laacher, which is shaking up the culinary landscape of the Latin Quarter.
10AM : Wander around the Drouot auction house to see what objects, furniture, paintings and other curiosities will be auctioned off in the afternoon. Notice that half of Paris’s antiques dealers are present, stalking hot finds. Once you have made your choice, you can bid online.
11AM : Discover the new world of Diptyque, which has replaced the restaurant Goumard. Fragrances, scented candles, cleaning products, objects, decorative items and more.
1PM : Have lunch at Le Cadoret, a café/restaurant in the heights of the 19th arrondissement, where Louis-Marie Fleuriot and his sister Léa prepare comfort food, with dishes like roast free-range chicken and coffee-glazed profiteroles.
3PM : Head to Clamart to visit the Fondation Arp, where pioneering modern artists Jean Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp set up their studios before the Second World War. The garden, filled with biomorphic sculptures, including Arp’s marvellous Cloud Shepherd (1953), is a destination in itself.
4PM : Visit the gallery of Emanuela Campoli, a pillar of committed contemporary art who exhibits works by Italian designer Cinzia Ruggeri, activist poet Fernanda Laguna and American painter Katherine Bradford, among others.
5PM : Enjoy a snack at the Café Clotilde, the discreet tearoom at the Maison Colbert hotel, formerly the home of the writer Simone de Beauvoir. The exquisite, refined menu was devised by leading pastry chef Nina Métayer.
6PM : Browse through the vintage togs at Sports d’Époque, a boutique specializing in clothing for athletics, rugby, tennis, fencing, football and running, all steeped in history and worn in their day by legendary champions.
7PM : Sip a cocktail at Bar Nouveau, a tiny nightspot run by Remy Savage and Hadrien and Sara Moudoulaud. Art Nouveau decor, cosy atmosphere and a great cocktail called Sarbacane (vodka, Chardonnay, awamori and banana).
9PM : Have dinner at Les Marches, a roadside bistro parked down below the Palais de Tokyo and a paragon of good food, including egg mayo, sausage in brioche and fillet of beef with pepper sauce. An offbeat classic that will lift your spirits.
MIDNIGHT : Shake your hips on the dance floor at the revived Mikado Dancing bar, hidden in the basement of the very chic Rochechouart hotel, a mythical 1980s nightspot with an opium den feel.
