Davido, one of Africa’s biggest stars, has helped propel Afrobeats into the global spotlight. Born in Atlanta and still spending a lot of time there, the Nigerian artist shares a special connection with the city. Here are his favorite Atlanta spots.
Less“The Ace nightclub, restaurant and lounge is very special to me. The owners have long supported my music, even before this spot opened up. Ace perfectly combines great nightlife with delicious dining, featuring Nigerian specialties like suya and jollof rice, plus Caribbean cuisine. Here’s what I recommend: Start with dinner, then stay for the great atmosphere with DJs and live shows. The experience reminds me of Lagos nightlife, where food, music, and atmosphere come together perfectly.”
"State Farm Arena hosts Atlanta Hawks basketball games but also major concerts. Growing up in Atlanta, I used to come here to watch Hawks games. Years later, I’ve headlined shows here twice and also have done different performances—a dream come true! Being on that stage, seeing the arena full, seeing how far I’ve come, and creating a fully packed show like that was a special moment for me. Feeling the energy of the entire arena was something I’ll never forget."
"Buka is my top spot for authentic Nigerian cuisine in Atlanta. It has been a favorite among my family for years. It’s a go-to for those craving traditional Nigerian flavors, from jollof rice to pepper soup. My uncle cooks the food himself, making my favorite Nigerian stew, white rice, plantain, fish, swallow, and various other dishes. The food is flavorful, made with love. Try the white rice and red Nigerian stew, sometimes mixed with beans, and ewa agoyin with bread."
"If you love skating, come here, lace up your skates, and hit the rink. Even if you’re not a pro, the vibe is welcoming. Watch the experienced skaters; some of them perform tricks that will blow your mind. Come for Adult Night if you want a more grown-up and stylish experience. Even if you don’t skate, the music and energy make it a fun spot to chill. Cascade stays connected to Atlanta’s culture. Whether you’re skating or just vibing, it’s a place where you can let loose and have a great time."
“I love [Golden Corral] because there’s something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The endless food options make it a go-to spot for casual dining. Coming here now always reminds me of family gatherings and celebrations. One of my favorite memories is being here on a weekend with my family, piling my plate high with fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and ending the meal with a mountain of ice cream and sprinkles.”
"Truist Park is home to the Atlanta Braves. The stadium offers a perfect blend of modern amenities and a classic ballpark feel. It has incredible sight lines. Whether you’re a die-hard Braves supporter or just seeking a fun night out, the energy in the stadium is contagious. The classic Braves Burger, a wild combination of beef, hot dog, and chicken, is a must-try!"
"Stone Mountain Park is an iconic spot with the world’s largest exposed granite rock. Whether you hike to the summit, picnic by the lake, or watch a Drone & Light Show, there’s something for everyone. The panoramic view from the top is unforgettable. Stay for the show, enjoy a boat ride, or explore the historic square with its 18th- and 19th-century buildings."
"Six Flags is the ultimate thrill-seekers paradise, featuring some of the most exciting roller coasters in the Southeast. I recommend trying Goliath, one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the park. Another ride, Twisted Cyclone, is a wild hybrid coaster that mixes wood and steel for a smooth but thrilling ride. Also, try the classic bumper cars and carnival games. They’re fun for all ages!"
"Georgia Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world, home to thousands of marine animals, including whale sharks, beluga whales, and manta rays. The first time I visited, I was amazed by the size of the whales and sharks and how gracefully they moved. The dolphin show was also a highlight. The whole experience here makes me feel relaxed, inspired, and connected to nature."
“I saw the stadium being built from scratch—that was amazing to see. I rang the bell [to open an Atlanta Falcons game] a few years ago. I plan to headline a show there one day. I love that space and its over-70,000 capacity ambience. I love going there to watch soccer games too! The first time I stepped into Mercedes-Benz Stadium, I was blown away by the massive halo display and the futuristic design. It makes me feel good celebrating the sport that I love, and the atmosphere was insane.”
