New York, Chicago, Detroit—these cities have made quite a name for themselves when it comes to pizza. Memphis has its own famous pizza (yes, that would be barbecue pizza!). Here are a few of our favorites.
LessCiao Baby is known for its traditional margherita-style pizza, but customers can also choose from other signature pizzas or design their own. This family-owned restaurant prides itself on its wood-fired oven from Naples, Italy. Ciao Baby makes its own mozzarella and pizza dough fresh daily. We love the personal sized "baby" pizzas.
Coletta’s is Memphis’s oldest restaurant, dating back to 1923. Jerry and Diane Coletta still run the original South Parkway location, while their children run the Appling location. Gary and Diane employ their grandchildren too—the fifth Coletta generation in the restaurants. A favorite of Elvis himself, Coletta’s is credited with inventing barbecue pizza.

With more than 40 years in business, Fox Ridge Pizza is known for medium-crust pizzas with toppings all the way to the edge. There’s not a bland bite in sight! The menu offers signature pizzas, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and Southern-style plate lunches. The restaurant features a bar, outdoor patio, small private dining room, and arcade room for kids.
The Orsoza wood-fired pizza at Hampline Brewing is legit! The inside of the brewery is cozy, which adds to the fun of having someone making Neopolitan pizzas to order! The oven was made especially for the space back in 2023 and they've been slinging pizzas ever since! There are six varieties to choose from, and you'll find everything from a lager to blackberry sour gose to sip between bites!
High Point Pizza is a true neighborhood restaurant. It’s great for families, date nights, or lunch on the patio after a stroll on the Shelby Farms Greenline. Standout pizzas include Buffalo Chicken Supreme, Bacon Cheeseburger, Wild Mushroom, and the Loaded.
Hog & Hominy may be our most famous pizza thanks to the Bib Gourmand distinction bestowed by Michelin. This is date night level pizza, best enjoyed with a cocktail and a few other stellar dishes created by local rock stars Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman.
The Roman-meets-Detroit-style pan pizza at Hustle & Dough may be the best-kept secret in town. Located inside the Arrive Hotel on South Main, the lobby restaurant is top notch. The thick, crispy, bubbly crust is made from the same sourdough starter as the bakery loaves. Available after hours in Bar Hustle.
Almost everything at this Bartlett pizzeria is made from scratch. The crew makes the dough fresh daily, shreds the cheese in-house, makes the marinara, chops all the salad bar ingredients daily, and they even make their own Italian and Ranch dressing. "From pizzas to pizza rolls to Alfredi sauce to breadsticks—it's all made here," says owner Michael Gomez. And honestly? You can tell.
Pizza and beer have never paired better, thanks to Wiseacre Brewing Company. Little Bettie is inside their gorgeous downtown taproom and specializes in New Haven-style pizza—thin, crispy, and topped with quality ingredients. The taproom has expansive indoor and outdoor seating.
With locations all over town, Memphis Pizza Cafe lives up to the hype. They offer classic pies with a thin-and-crispy crust.

Two cousins, Pete and Sam, opened this Memphis favorite in 1948. Pete jumped ship after six months, but Sam couldn’t afford a new sign. At Pete & Sam’s, you can order pizza as a side or main dish. The Baby Pizza is a perfectly crispy accompaniment to any entree. Full-size pizzas include Memphis favorites like BBQ Chicken and BBQ Pork.
Susie, the sweetly named pizza oven, works hard to bring you fresh, wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas every day of the week at Silly Goose. The menu features fun favorites like The Roni, Spicy Mane, and Duck Confit.
At Slim & Husky’s you can choose from two styles of crust. That’s right—slim or husky. While they’re both relatively thin, the slim approaches a cracker crust. Flavors include Rony, Roni, Rone! and Hot Chicken. Round out your order with garlic knots.
Owner Miles Tamboli has a roster of local farms that he supports, and the 14-inch wood-fired pizzas simply couldn’t be fresher with everything made from scratch.
