The star of the hit Apple Original series Severance shares his favorite places to spend his downtime when he’s home in LA.
Less"The great thing about Jon & Vinny's is it hearkens back to Italian restaurants you'd go to with your family when you were a kid, but everything's updated. The Ham & Eazy pizza and the apple salad are incredible. I would eat there every day, if allowed. By the way, I am not allowed.”
"There’s always something interesting happening down there. I love it. I saw a really cool Cindy Sherman exhibit there a few years ago. The museum somehow always feels new and fresh.”
"This is a great spot for gifts. I did a collaboration with Clare years ago, and I just love being in her shops. There are all kinds of great unisex options, and really cool monogramming."
“When The New York Times says the best bagel in the country is in Los Angeles, you need to listen. I mean, I can’t imagine the animosity that must’ve befallen The New York Times that day. Oh my God. Go find yourself a Courage bagel. Certainly well worth the wait.”
“But also, you can’t forget Hank’s Bagels. Really good. I would say a close second. I would even say some in my house prefer it.”
“A lovely place for a walk and a really lovely place to walk a dog.“
“You can’t go wrong. It almost doesn’t quite matter what the event is. You can go see a movie with a live orchestra there in the summer. I’ve seen everything from giant rock bands to Steve Martin and Martin Short do a show there. It’s just the best.”
“They just got a James Beard Award like a year or so ago. Delicious. Wholly unique. The fried chicken is one of the many jewels on the menu there. Plan ahead and get a table in advance—it’s not easy. But it’s not outrageously expensive, and there’s an inspiring story behind it as well.”
“Terrific used bookstore. I like to collect movie novelizations. They don’t really do it anymore, but I loved them when I was a kid—in the 4th grade I read the E.T. novelization over and over again. So I started collecting them in recent years—I have a whole bookshelf dedicated to them. There are rules: It can’t be a novel that was turned into a movie. It has to be a movie first, and then someone had to have been cursed with the assignment of turning it into a novel.”
"Really good Italian food. They have these artichoke hearts that are really delicious and kind of a little bit fried. Their pasta is always great."
