The park features rustic boardwalks and a floating dock for canoes and kayaks, which can circle both islands during high tide.

Want to hike in President Theodore Roosevelt’s footsteps? Look no further than the Boulder Bridge Hike in the beautiful Rock Creek Park. You’ll walk through forests and creek-side ecosystems, eventually reaching the historic bridge. This one is easy enough for the whole family and great in fall!

Winding through Arlington for over four miles, the Custis Trail is a favorite among cyclists and joggers. This paved path is easy enough for the whole family, but hilly enough to get your heart pumping. Connect with Four Mile Run and the Mount Vernon Trail to make this an excellent loop!

Up for a challenge? Old Rag Mountain will likely be the hardest hike you’ll ever do in Virginia. When the uphill ends, the rock scrambling begins, testing your strength and endurance. This immensely popular hike gets visitors from all over the state, so arrive early! The views from the top make the hike well worth it.
