"When I eat here," says Miller, "I think 'From Ghana, with Love.' Nowhere else in Denver, besides maybe someone’s home, may you get a real taste of West African food, and a lot of vegan dishes. I like the whole fish dishes like red snapper, or tilapia, that may be served fried, grilled, or baked. Top your fish with some of the peppery jerk curry or the sublime combination of okra and tomatoes. Be sure to wash it down with some spicy ginger drink or some tart bissap, a hibiscus drink."

"This small eatery in east Denver serves up old school, and I mean ooooollllldddd school, soul food. I love the spicy, coarsely ground hot links, but you should definitely scoop up the creole gumbo, oxtails and gravy, or pig ear sandwiches when available."

"Home of Mona’s Wings ‘n’ Tings. Located in Five Points, Denver’s historically Black neighborhood, this restaurant serves some of the best soul food in town. The fried chicken is celebrated, as are the traditional side dishes like candied yams, greens, and macaroni and cheese. There are also Caribbean specialties like 'pates,' which are filled pastries. If you get the delicious rum cake, I suggest avoiding any breathalyzers in the immediate future."
