The Centro Ceremonial Indígena de Cagüana is the Caribbean's largest and most important Taíno archaeological site. The Taíno people populated much of the Caribbean during the pre-Columbian era. Protected since 1955, the site showcases 10 "bateyes" (plazas that were used for ceremonial purposes), several stone monoliths and countless petroglyphs.

Lechonera Los Amigos is the first stop on the legendary Ruta del Lechón, or "pork highway" of Guavate. A Puerto Rican delicacy, lechón is whole pork that's slow-roasted for hours over hot coals or an open flame. This dish is typically found only in the countryside of Puerto Rico, and is served with rice and beans, plantains, mofongo and other local specialties.
